Establishment of a company vision and values statement. Management development programme for 320 managers and supervisors
At first, we assessed the needs of the management of a regional sugar company and identified the strategic focus of the company. There was a serious need to develop management skills amongst 300 management executives in order to create a high level of motivation and commitment towards quality and continuous improvement. Vision and value statement workshops were conducted to assist the group in the formulation of a concise and meaningful vision statement supported by values.
A management development programme was then undertaken for a period of twenty-four months which was followed by a job description training and a job evaluation training and consultation.
A company vision and values statement was established and a management development programme was then delivered to 320 managers and supervisors.
Our client underlined major benefits of our intervention in terms of cultural transition, gains in organisational efficiency, productivity and performance.
Progressive application development based on client satisfaction
- The Zambia based client wanted to be cautious because they just had a negative experience with another software provider
- They wanted to proceed stepwise by analysing the existing application and the actual scope of work
- We prepared a Statement of User Requirements document which gave rise to a number of fruitful interactive consultations whereby the client discovered many new facts about their system
- After submitting the SOUR, we were asked to submit a project proposal as the single supplier for the application.

Zambia Social Investment Fund (ZAMSIF) is a World Bank funded 10 year programme aimed at poverty reduction in Zambia. Zamsif envisages a gradual decentralisation of activities to local government. DCDM was entrusted with the responsibility of preparing a SOUR document to address adequately the various MIS and IT infrastructure requirements to position Zamsif to take upon the challenges of this devolution. To develop rapidly a comprehensive prototype of the system
Retail Census
A major cigarette manufacturing company in Zambia commissioned DCDM to conduct a retail census in the country with a view to identify and fully survey all retail outlets selling cigarettes. The census identified a number of retail outlets where the brands marketed by the company are not available. The exercise also provided the company with information on the share of turnover of retail outlets, which is accounted for by cigarettes.

At the end of the assignment, a database of retail outlets enumerated during the census was submitted to the company. The database included contact details, classification data as relative importance of the outlet to the company.
Pricing Research – brand equity Diagnostic
DCDM was commissioned by a major manufacturing company in Zambia to conduct a pricing research. Using an advance modelling technique based on conjoint analysis, we provided the client with estimates of the demand elasticities for its brands as well as potential consumer and market shares under a number of price scenarios for its brands as well as that of its competitors.
